It all started when…

I learned of Baylor’s Go-Pro Odyssey camera and I thought of my student’s apathy with reading literature that, if they would just persevere, could bring countless worlds and unknown ideas to their lives. So I thought, here’s this technology that lets me step students into another place and experience the realities of the people they’re reading like never before. So I asked if I could and everyone said yes and after almost seven years, we’re near the start of a completely different journey. One that begins with my completion and defense of my dissertation (working title: an exploratory case study on the pedagogical possibilities of educational cvr for high school English classes. Part of that process was creating a qualitative study and asking practicing high school English teachers to watch what I made and tell me what they thought. Before they did, however, I introduced them to the medium with a variation on the powerpoint below.
